Three Perfect Parks in the Killington Area

One of the many things we have here in Killington are lovely state parks. They’re the perfect place for some fun this spring and summer. Here are 3 of our favorites:

  • Gifford Woods State Park: With its location at the base of Killington and Pico peaks and its close proximity to the Appalachian and Long trails, Gifford Woods State Park is a favorite of hikers. Many through-hikers pass the park on their Appalachian Trail journey from Georgia to Maine.
  • Pine Hill Park: This offers 16 miles of single-track trail spread over 325 acres of terrain with some of the very best mountain biking, trail running, hiking, walking, snowshoeing, and geocaching in the central Vermont region.
  • Coolidge State Park: A trip to Coolidge State Park is a trip back in time. The park remains essentially the way it was when it was first created in the 1930s. Known for its rustic feel, hillside campsites that give way to dramatic mountain views, and authentic character, Coolidge State Park is the developed recreation centerpiece of the 21,500 acre Calvin Coolidge State Forest, the largest state-owned land holding in central Vermont. Within the park, there are miles of hiking trails to explore, several streams home to elusive brook trout, and abundant wildlife. Some visitors are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a barred owl, a moose, or a black bear. Nearby is the village of Plymouth Notch, the birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States.
